Gas Turbine PM Emission Test Method Comparison

Date:05-07-08

Objective

To compare results from two different test methods for measurement of PM 10 and PM2.5 emissions from a gas turbine. The tests included measurements using EPA’s dilution technique, known as conditional test method CTM-039. Those results were compared with the traditional EPA Methods 201A and 202, with paired sampling trains for both methods operated concurrently during nine test runs. The results indicate that the dilution technique has promise for more accurate measurement of PM2.5 emissions without the bias or artifact that is built into the traditional methods.
