<< back to CASE STUDIESMetals Casting Emissions - Public Outcry and Right to Know
Date:12-27-08
Project Description
Nearby residential neighbors of a large casting facility were concerned about the health risk from plant emissions. The local air quality agency responded to their outcry by requiring an extensive emission testing program. Avogadro tested emissions of many HAPS, VOC's and PM from several steel casting processes. Multiple mobilizations were required at all times of night and day, including a contract directly from the local air quality agency for testing for specific trace pollutants. Since the public essentially wanted the plant closed down, the results were critical to their continued existence in the community. The tests and analyses were completed on time and without difficulty and the results were accepted as accurately characterizing the plant emissions.
